Website and Business Membership Terms and Conditions

Last updated: [24/09/26]

These Terms and Conditions should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and the Classic Car Experts Verification Standard.

1. About these terms

These Terms and Conditions apply to the use of the Classic Car Experts website and to businesses applying for or holding a paid membership.

Classic Car Experts is an online directory that helps classic car owners discover and connect with specialist classic car businesses. Our aim is to help owners find businesses that may be suitable for their restoration, maintenance or other classic car requirements, while helping specialist businesses connect with the types of customers they wish to work with.

The website is operated by Classic Car Experts Ltd, trading as Classic Car Experts.

By using the website, creating an account, applying for membership or purchasing a membership, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

2. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions:

“Business” means any individual, sole trader, partnership, company or other organisation applying for or holding a listing on the website.

“Classic Car Experts”, “we”, “us” or “our” means the legal entity operating the Classic Car Experts website.

“Customer” means a classic car owner or any other person who contacts or enters into an agreement with a listed Business.

“Listing” means a Business profile displayed on the website.

“Member” means a Business with an approved and active paid membership.

“Verified Business” means a Member that currently meets the Classic Car Experts Verification Standard.

“Verification Standard” means the checks and assessment process described in Section 6.

“Website” means the Classic Car Experts website and any related online services operated by us.

“You” or “your” means the person or organisation using the Website.

Headings are included to make these terms easier to read and do not affect their interpretation.

3. Our role

Classic Car Experts provides directory information, introductions and verification services.

We do not carry out classic car restoration, repair, maintenance or other work advertised by listed Businesses.

We are not a party to any agreement entered into between a Customer and a Business. We do not act as an agent for either party.

Any quotation, instruction, contract, payment or other arrangement for work, products or services is made directly between the Customer and the relevant Business.

Customers are responsible for deciding whether a Business is suitable for their requirements before entering into an agreement.

4. Business accounts

Classic Car Experts creates and approves all business listings manually. Businesses cannot publish a listing themselves. Before any listing appears on the Website, we review its details and decide whether it is suitable for publication. We may contact a business for clarification or evidence, and we may decline, correct, suspend or remove a listing if its information is inaccurate or unsuitable.

A verified business listing is available only to a business that has paid for membership and passed the checks in our Verification Standard. We complete and approve those checks manually before publishing the listing with verified status. Verification reflects our assessment at the time of the checks; it is not a guarantee of future workmanship or customer satisfaction.

Businesses must tell us promptly if information in their listing changes or becomes inaccurate. We review changes before they appear on the Website.

5. Membership applications and listings

Businesses may apply for paid membership of Classic Car Experts.

Every application is reviewed manually. We may contact the applicant and request further information or evidence before making a decision.

We reserve the right to approve or decline an application. We are not required to provide detailed reasons for declining an application, although we may do so where appropriate.

A Business will receive a directory Listing only after:

  • its application has been approved;
  • any required verification process has been completed satisfactorily; and
  • the applicable membership fee has been paid.

Approval of one application does not require us to approve any future application or renewal.

Members must ensure that the information in their Listing remains accurate, complete and up to date. they must email updates to Greg@Classiccarexperts.co.uk

We may correct, amend, suspend or remove a Listing that:

  • contains inaccurate or misleading information;
  • no longer complies with these terms;
  • no longer meets our membership or verification requirements;
  • infringes another person’s rights; or
  • may damage the Website, its users or the reputation and integrity of Classic Car Experts.

6. The Classic Car Experts Verification Standard

6.1 Purpose of verification

The Classic Car Experts Verification Standard is intended to help classic car owners identify Businesses that have completed our manual verification process.

Its purpose is to improve transparency and confidence when Customers search for specialist Businesses.

Verification is carried out manually by Classic Car Experts and reflects our assessment based on the information reasonably available at the time.

6.2 What we check

To achieve and maintain Verified Business status, a Business must complete our mandatory checks satisfactorily.

Our verification process may include:

Business identity and contact details

We check the Business’s identity, telephone number and contact details to help confirm that it is genuine and contactable.

Website review

Where a Business has a website, we may review it as part of our assessment.

Having a website is not a requirement for verification. A Business without a website may still qualify for Verified Business status.

Companies House and public records

Where applicable, we may check Companies House records to confirm information about the Business.

We may also review relevant publicly available information, including records relating to insolvency, outstanding County Court Judgments or similar matters.

Industry reference

We may speak directly with one or more Businesses or professionals who have first-hand experience of the applicant.

The purpose of the conversation is to help us assess whether the applicant is regarded as reputable within the classic car industry and has a reputation for carrying out work to a good professional standard.

6.3 How verification decisions are made

All mandatory checks must be completed satisfactorily.

Some checks are based on objective evidence, such as contact details being correct. Other parts of the process, including industry references, require us to use professional judgment.

We consider the available information as a whole when making a verification decision.

Verification is not an automatic tick-box process, and completing an application does not guarantee that Verified Business status will be awarded.

6.4 Ongoing verification

Verified Business status is ongoing rather than permanent.

We may request updated information or evidence at any time.

A Business must notify us promptly of any material change that may affect its Verified Business status.

We may review, suspend or withdraw Verified Business status where:

  • required information is not provided;
  • information previously provided becomes inaccurate;
  • serious concerns are brought to our attention;
  • the Business no longer meets the Verification Standard; or
  • we reasonably believe that continued verification may mislead Website users.

6.5 What the verified badge means

A verified badge means that, at the time of our most recent assessment, the Business had completed and satisfactorily met the Classic Car Experts Verification Standard.

6.6 What the verified badge does not mean

Verification is not:

  • a guarantee of future workmanship;
  • a guarantee of customer satisfaction;
  • a guarantee of financial stability;
  • a warranty that the Business will always meet a particular standard;
  • an endorsement of every service offered by the Business; or
  • a substitute for a Customer’s own enquiries and judgment.

Customers should discuss their requirements directly with the Business, obtain appropriate quotations and documentation, and carry out any other checks they consider necessary before entering into a contract.

7. Business responsibilities

Members must act honestly and responsibly when using Classic Car Experts.

A Member must:

  • provide complete, accurate and current information;
  • keep its contact details and Listing information up to date;
  • accurately describe the services it offers;
  • notify us of material changes to its Business;
  • notify us of changes affecting its Verified Business status;
  • cooperate reasonably with verification and renewal checks;
  • avoid making false, misleading or unsubstantiated claims; and
  • comply with all laws and professional obligations applying to its Business.

Membership of Classic Car Experts does not remove or replace any legal, regulatory, insurance or professional responsibilities applying to the Business.

8. Content and intellectual property rights

8.1 Our content

Unless otherwise stated, the Website and its original content, branding, layout, text, graphics, software and other materials belong to Classic Car Experts or are used by us with permission.

You may view and use the Website for its intended purpose. You must not copy, reproduce, republish, sell or commercially exploit our content without our prior written permission.

8.2 Business content

Businesses retain ownership of the photographs, logos, descriptions and other content they provide to us.

By uploading or supplying content, the Business grants Classic Car Experts a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, resize, format, publish, display and use that content:

  • on the Website;
  • in connection with the Business’s Listing;
  • in newsletters and communications relating to Classic Car Experts;
  • on Classic Car Experts social-media accounts; and
  • in reasonable advertising and marketing of the Classic Car Experts platform.

This licence allows us to use service providers, such as website hosting, design and marketing suppliers, where necessary to operate and promote the platform.

We will not claim ownership of the Business’s content.

8.3 Permission to use content

A Business must only provide content that it owns or has permission to use.

By supplying content, the Business confirms that:

  • it has the rights and permissions required to provide it to us;
  • our permitted use of the content will not infringe another person’s rights;
  • any people appearing in the content have given any necessary permissions; and
  • its use does not breach confidentiality, privacy or data-protection obligations.

This includes photographs of customer vehicles, photographs taken by third parties, manufacturer images, logos and other protected material.

We may remove or refuse to use content where we receive a rights complaint or reasonably believe that the Business may not have permission to use it.

8.4 Content after membership ends

When a membership ends, we will remove the Listing and its content from public view.

We may retain copies of account information and supplied content for reasonable administrative, record-keeping, security or legal purposes, and to support a future application to relist the Business.

Any retention of personal information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9. Acceptable use

When using Classic Car Experts, you agree to use the Website lawfully, honestly and responsibly.

You must not:

  • provide false, misleading or deceptive information;
  • impersonate another person or Business;
  • upload content that you do not own or have permission to use;
  • use the Website for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive or harmful activity;
  • publish content that is threatening, discriminatory, defamatory or seriously offensive;
  • send spam or unsolicited bulk communications through the Website;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website, an account or Website data;
  • introduce viruses, malware or other malicious code;
  • interfere with the proper operation or security of the Website;
  • scrape, copy or extract Website data without our permission; or
  • use the Website in a way that may damage Classic Car Experts or its users.

Where we believe this section has been breached, we will normally issue a warning and give the Business a reasonable opportunity to put the issue right.

However, where immediate action is reasonably necessary to protect the Website, its users or Classic Car Experts, we may remove content, restrict access, or remove a Listing without first issuing a warning.

10. Membership fees, renewals and refunds

Verified business membership costs £360 for each 12-month term. No VAT is charged. We take the first payment during the application process. Payment does not guarantee approval or publication.

If we approve the business, its membership term starts on the date its verified business listing first appears on the Website. We will confirm that date and the next renewal date in writing.

Membership renews automatically for successive 12-month terms at £360 per year unless cancelled. The renewal payment is due on the anniversary of the listing’s publication. Renewal remains subject to the business meeting our terms and completing any required updated verification checks. If we decline renewal, we will stop future payments. If a renewal payment has already been taken, we will initiate a full refund within 14 calendar days of our decision.

If a business does not pass initial verification, we will not publish its listing as verified. We will cancel its subscription so that no renewal payment is taken and initiate a full refund of its first £360 payment within 14 calendar days of notifying it of our decision. The refund will go to the original payment method; the payment provider or bank may take additional time to make it available.

A business may cancel automatic renewal at any time before the next payment is taken by emailing Greg@classiccarexperts.co.uk. or through the Stripe payment system. We will confirm the cancellation. It stops the next annual charge but does not end the current paid term early. Subject to continued compliance with our terms, the listing and verified status remain in place until that term ends.

Fees for a term that has begun are not refundable solely because a business cancels its future renewal. This does not affect the failed-verification refund above or any refund required by law or another provision of these terms.

11. Complaints and disputes

Contracts for work, products and services are made directly between Customers and Businesses.

If a problem arises, the Customer should raise it directly with the relevant Business.

Classic Car Experts is not a party to the contract and does not investigate, mediate, adjudicate or determine contractual disputes between Customers and Businesses.

However, where serious concerns are brought to our attention, we may review whether the Business continues to meet our membership and Verification Standard requirements.

As part of that review, we may request information or an explanation from the Business.

Any review:

  • is carried out at our discretion;
  • is intended to protect the integrity of the Website and Verification Standard;
  • does not make us responsible for resolving the underlying dispute; and
  • does not guarantee any particular outcome for either party.

12. Suspension and termination

12.1 Cancellation by a Business

A Business may cancel its membership at any time by contacting us at Greg@Classiccarexperts.co.uk.

Following cancellation, the Listing and any Verified Business status will be removed from public view.

12.2 Suspension or termination by us

We may suspend a Listing, withdraw Verified Business status or terminate membership immediately where we reasonably believe there has been:

  • fraud or attempted fraud;
  • unlawful activity;
  • deliberately false or misleading information;
  • misuse of the Website;
  • a serious breach of these terms;
  • conduct that creates a risk to Website users; or
  • conduct likely to cause serious harm to the reputation or integrity of Classic Car Experts.

For less serious breaches, we will normally give the Business a warning and, where appropriate, an opportunity to put the issue right.

We may take immediate action without a warning where this is reasonably necessary to prevent harm, protect users, preserve evidence or secure the Website.

12.3 Effect of expiry or termination

When a membership expires or is terminated:

  • the Business’s membership rights end;
  • the Listing will be removed from public view;
  • Verified Business status and the verified badge will end;
  • the Business must stop presenting itself as a current Member or Verified Business; and
  • any outstanding obligations that are intended to continue after termination will remain in effect.

We may retain certain account records and content for reasonable administrative, security or legal purposes, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

13. Website availability and changes

We aim to keep the Website available and operating properly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.

The Website may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, updates, technical faults, security incidents or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

We may change, update, suspend or withdraw parts of the Website where reasonably necessary.

We may also update the Verification Standard or these Terms and Conditions from time to time.

Where a change is significant and affects existing Members, we will take reasonable steps to notify them.

Updated terms will apply from the effective date stated in the updated version. Changes will not remove rights that have already arisen or apply retrospectively where doing so would be unlawful or unfair.

14. Limitation of liability

Classic Car Experts is a directory and introduction service. We are not responsible for carrying out, supervising or guaranteeing work performed by a listed Business.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for:

  • the acts or omissions of a Business;
  • the quality, safety, legality or suitability of work, products or services supplied by a Business;
  • statements, estimates, quotations or promises made by a Business;
  • a Customer’s or Business’s decision to enter into a contract;
  • disputes arising from a contract between a Customer and a Business;
  • information supplied by a Business that was inaccurate, incomplete or subsequently changed;
  • losses caused by events outside our reasonable control; or
  • temporary interruption or unavailability of the Website.

Verification reduces uncertainty but cannot eliminate risk. A verified badge does not make Classic Car Experts responsible for the Business’s future conduct or performance.

Where you use the Website for business purposes, we will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill or loss of anticipated savings.

We do not exclude liability for losses that are a foreseeable result of our own breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill, where that liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions where reasonably necessary, including to reflect:

  • changes to the Website or membership service;
  • changes to the Verification Standard;
  • changes in our payment or renewal processes;
  • legal or regulatory requirements; or
  • security, technical or operational changes.

The latest version will be published on the Website with its effective date.

Where a change is significant and affects an active Member, we will take reasonable steps to notify that Member before or when the change takes effect.

16. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over disputes arising in connection with these terms, subject to any mandatory rights that apply under the law.
